Genome Biology Unit

News

GBU´s clone libraries and cloning services will relocate to Viikki campus by the end of January 2025. This is due to the move of the GBU director Saara Ollila and her research lab to the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences. Do not worry: our cloning service portfolio remains the same, only the postal address changes. Reeta and Riikka will continue offering GBU services in Viikki, while Myriam is moving towards new challenges. We look forward to serving you from our new lab in Viikikaari 9, Biocenter 1, 3rd floor, room 3023!

The Pannoramic 250 Flash III slide scanner will remain in Biomedicum and will be managed by another GoEditStem platform core unit FinGEEC, and operated mainly by Dr. Bina Prajapati. We have ensured that this setup will provide you with ongoing access and support for all your scanning needs. Starting from January, you can book scans with Bina by emailing to fingeec-support@helsinki.fi

Welcome to the Genome Biology Unit website!

GBU is home to genome-wide libraries of open reading frames (ORFs), as well as shRNAs and gRNAs in lentiviral backbones, available for researchers in the Biocenter Finland network. We also provide Gateway cloning services and site-directed mutagenesis for ORFs, as well as whole-slide scanning service.

Genome Biology Unit (GBU) is a part of Genome Editing and Stem Cells (GoEditStem) core-unit platform of Helsinki Institute of Life Science (HiLIFE) at the University of Helsinki and a part of national Biocenter Finland Genome-wide methods network (GWM).
