Vertebrate evolution, development and regeneration

Nicolas Di-Poi research group

Research in our group investigates a number of questions central to understanding animal evolution and development: What determines the lifelong regenerative capacity of some animal lineages ? How has the developmental program evolved to generate the impressive morphological diversity of organs and tissues across vertebrates ? What are the relationships between form and function of organisms and their external environment?

To answer these questions, we investigate non-classical vertebrate models such as reptiles which display an exceptional array of regenerative capacities, life-styles, ecologies, and morphologies. All our research projects include state-of-the-art integrative methods such as cellular biology, molecular embryology, genetics, comparative genomics, transcriptomics, geometric morphometrics and theoretical modeling.
