International Master's Programmes

Do you want to complete a Master’s degree at the University of Helsinki?  The information on this page will help you with the application process to our 35 International Master's Programmes.

In the International Master’s Programmes, the language of instruction is English. However, in many of the programmes you can also complete studies partly or fully in Finnish and/or Swedish. Always check the language information on the programme website.

The next application period for the International Master’s Programmes opens on 3 Dec 2019 at 8:00 UTC+2 and closes on 10 Jan 2020 at 15:00 UTC+2 (for studies starting in autumn 2020). To keep updated about the application dates and process, sign up for our Admissions Newsletter.

Please note that our International Master's Programmes only have one intake per academic year. You can only submit your application during the application period at the Finnish national online application portal Studyinfo.

What are the steps you need to take to apply to an International Master's Programme?

  1. Choose your programme.
  2. Check that you meet the ad­mis­sion re­quire­ments in the Finnish national application portal Studyinfo. You can find a direct link on the website of the programme in question.
  3. Pre­pare your ap­plic­a­tion doc­u­ments in ad­vance. It might require some time to take a language test* and get your educational documents certified or translated** correctly. Your documents must fulfil all requirements and be submitted correctly. Otherwise, your application can not be considered.
  4. Apply during the application period on 3 Dec 2019 at 8:00 UTC+2 - 10 Jan 2020 at 15:00 UTC+2.

*All applicants must prove their language skills with their previous education or a language test. See how to prove your English language skills.
