Interested in applying to an International Master's Programme but not sure how to do it? Looking for an authentic insight into student life before making your decision?
The University of Helsinki is ranked within the top 1% of universities in the world and our doors are open to students from all over the globe. However, we know that the application process can be both exciting and overwhelming.
This webinar aims to address your questions and worries regarding the matter. In addition, our students will share their journeys providing you with a full picture of the adventure you are about to embark on.
In this webinar, you will:
Essi (they/them) is a Finnish student in the Master's Programme in Linguistic Diversity and Digital Humanities, and your host for this Applicant Webinar. Their academic interests lie in sociolinguistics: the social and cultural aspects of language use. Along with their studies, Essi works as a Student Ambassador and the Community Coordinator in the Student Ambassador Network. They have lived in Helsinki for six years, and in their free time enjoy cosy games, tea, and creative pursuits.
Dominika (she/her) studies in the Master’s Programme in Contemporary Societies specialising in Social Data Science. She enjoys the rich theory-based course offerings and the supportive environment. She currently works as a trainee in the Brand and Marketing team. In her free time, she likes to paint and make hand-drawn animations. In this webinar, she wants to share her study experience and the opportunities that the university presents.
Umamaheswari (she/her) is a soon-to-be graduate of the Master's Programme in Neuroscience, though her neurons have been firing full throttle ever since starting her project for the iGEM competition. Freshly returned from the Grand Jamboree in Paris (where science and croissants collided), she’s now juggling the chaos called life with the serene beauty of Finland. After nearly three years, she's come to love the Finnish way of life: simple, peaceful, and perfectly suited for moments of reflection—or just calming down after yet another late-night research session. Currently, she's riding the emotional rollercoaster of PhD applications but still finds time to enjoy a vibrant social life. Her mission? To convince others that yes, it is possible to love both saunas and spicy food.
