Focus Nordic

The University of Helsinki’s Nordic Programme 2025–2035 strengthens collaboration with our partners across the Nordic region. Building on long-established ties, the programme supports cooperation in research, education, mobility, and talent attraction. Through targeted collaboration, we aim to advance knowledge, promote research excellence, and contribute to sustainable societal development in the Nordic area.
Nordic Programme 2025-2035

Nordic collaboration is one of the University’s strongest international dimensions. The programme builds on existing collaboration and ongoing activities and aims to support new and purposeful initiatives benefiting students, researchers, and the wider University community.

The University of Helsinki maintains extensive research collaboration with universities across Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland, reflected in high levels of co-authored publications, joint academic initiatives, and active student and staff mobility.

The programme is structured around four focus areas:

  1. Nordic Student Pathways – Education
  2. Nordic Research Nexus – Advancing Research Excellence
  3. Nordic Talent – Talent Attraction
  4. Nordic Voice – Advocacy & Shared Values
