The University of Helsinki has versatile and impactful collaborations with several Asian universities in a range of fields.
Strategic Partnership with Yonsei University

, South Korea, and the University of Helsinki forged a strategic partnership in April 2025. In the collaboration, the universities focus on three broad themes of health, society, and computing. 

The two universities boost collaboration in the aforementioned fields through an exploratory seed funding instrument. The first funding call took place in Spring 2025, and 4 multidisciplinary projects were selected to receive funding. All funded projects involve researchers from both institutions. 

Collaboration with Peking University

The collaboration dates back to the 1980s when the first Memorandum of Understanding with Peking University was signed. 

The collaboration areas included

  • atmospheric science,
  • teacher education,
  • law,
  • and medicine.
