Welcome to Helsinki University Lipidomics Unit (HiLIPID) – Research Infrastructure of HiLIFE – Helsinki Institute of Life Science.
HiLIPID is a co-operational venture of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Faculty of Medicine consisting of two lipidomics laboratories. One of the laboratories located at the Molecular and Integrative Biosciences, Viikki Campus, is run by adjunct professor Reijo Käkelä (Functional Lipidomics Group), and the other laboratory at Institute of Biomedicine, Meilahti Campus, is run by adjunct professor Pentti Somerharju (The Somerharju Lipid Group).
HiLIPID is an academic research and service facility, which provides services subject to charge for research groups, companies and authorities. We are serving a range of different research fields in life sciences; customers are from medical, biological, environmental, and veterinary sciences.
Our strengths are mass spectrometry-based lipidomics and gas chromatography of fatty acids followed by multivariate data analysis. We have experience in metabolic studies utilizing labeled precursors.
