Helsinki Metabolomics Center

Helsinki Metabolomics Center is a mass spectrometry-based metabolomics analytical services (metabolomics, lipidomics and fluxomics/Isotope tracing) providing core facility. Member of the Biocenter Finland and HiLIFE national infrastructure platforms. Offers services with open access policy to nationally and internationally to academic and non-academic customers in many diverse scientific fields.

Metabolomics unit provides high-throughput LC-MS targeted quantitative and global metabolomics/lipidomics and fluxomics services to basic, biomedical, preclinical and clinical research. We provide rapid analysis services for metabolites and lipids from different biological classes and various types of samples (biofluids, dried blood spots, cells, extracellular vesicles, cell organelle isolates, tissues, stool, biofilm, dental carries etc.) from humans, animal models (mouse, rat, dog etc.), C.elegans, drosophila, bacteria and yeast etc.

Helsinki Metabolomics Center News

FIMM Metabolomics will merge with the Viikki Metabolomics Unit (ViMU) of the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences in the beginning of 2025, and the newly formed Helsinki Metabolomics Center will be hosted by the Faculty of Medicine, however, continuing physically in its former Biomedicum 2 premises for the time being. The head of the new unit, Anni Nieminen, and the staff, including ViMU's Nina Sipari, will move to the Faculty of Medicine.

Minor delays for services during 2024-2025, especially Jan/Feb/2025.

ViMU customers, contact Helsinki Metabolomics center (fimm-metabolomics@helsinki.fi) or Unit director for project plans. Those ViMU´s old methods available after 2025 will be provided via iLAB once they been successfully developed to instrumentation and implemented to iLAB (estimated 6 months)

Users can now impact on the coming services for single cell and spatial metabolomics by filling a survey form.
