FIMM Doctoral Training Committee
The Doctoral Training Committee (DTC) at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) is dedicated to the review and mentoring of the entire body of the doctoral researchers at FIMM. The DTC develops guidelines for the doctoral training at FIMM, and together with the Doctoral Training coordinator, it oversees the centralized admission process for doctoral researchers who wish to join FIMM through the FIMM-EMBL International PhD programme.
The committee is composed of three FIMM Principal Investigators each serving a two-year term, along with the FIMM Doctoral Training Coordinator. The members of the DTC are appointed by the Director at FIMM.
The specific tasks of the DTC include
- annual monitoring of the progress of every doctoral researcher at FIMM
- mentoring of doctoral researcher at FIMM, if needed
- assessing the potential need and making recommendations to the FIMM Director for equitable bridge funding for doctoral researchers if situation arises due sudden changes in the funding of the group leader and/or the doctoral researcher
- providing recommendations to the FIMM director regarding best practices and policies for managing doctoral training at the institute
Bridge funding recommendations made by the DTC are approved by the Director at FIMM.
