Infographics

Infographics means the visual representation of information and data. The goal of infographics is to make it easier and faster for the audience to absorb information and understand larger concepts. Infographics are not just ornamental, they must always primarily serve the understanding of the content. A typical UH infographic combines an image with a figure (see example below).
Graph style

The goal is to present UH graphs with as limited a colour palette as possible. The colours of the graphs must be from the University of Helsinki palette. For University-level materials, the primary colours of the graphs are black, grey and blue. For faculty content, the blue may be replaced with the accent colour of the faculty in question. The format of UH graphs must be simple and modern. The overall appearance of the graphs must be light, airy and fresh. Avoid heavy blocks of colour.

Bar graphs must be narrow, airy and calm. Avoid wide bars. Line graphs must be minimalist, fresh and airy. Avoid heavy lines. Pie graphs are to be presented as rings, not full circles of colour. The appearance of the graphs is clear, fresh and airy. Pie graphs may not be positioned inside squares or on top of a background colour. No graphs may be positioned inside squares or

on top of a background colour.
