Colours

The basic colours of the University of Helsinki are black and white. Blue is used as an accent colour. In exceptional cases, the flame logo can appear in silver in print. It is also possible to employ these basic colours in different saturations, e.g., in graphs.

University Services, campuses as well as University’s internal projects and networks spanning several units must use the University’s basic colours.

The faculties use the University’s colours alongside their own colours.

Independent institutes use the University’s colours as well as the accent colours that have been assigned to them.

When using the colours, the darker the colour, the smaller the area it may occupy. This means that in terms of area, white must always be the dominant colour. The intention is to generate an overall mood that is light, modern and clear.

Blue is an accent colour, and must never occupy a large area.

Faculty colours

Each faculty has a colour. Units operating under faculties must use the colour of the faculty.

Please note that the same colour often appears different on screen and on paper.

*The swedish school of social science is an independent swedish-language unit of the university of helsinki. While not officially a faculty, it has an identifying colour.

Independent institute colours

The independent institutes of the university of helsinki have their own colours.

Please note that the same colour often appears different on screen and on paper.

Using the colours of the faculties and independent institutes

EXAMPLE

Faculties and independent institutes may use their identifying colours in their own operations and products either as clear areas of colour (e.G., T-shirts or products) or as accents.
