Fairs and Expos

You can meet University of Helsinki's representatives face-to-face or virtually at some global fairs and expos throughout the year. 

The University of Helsinki will be presenting at the 8th International Postgraduate Virtual Fair “Beca Generación del Bicentenario” (Bicentennial Generation Scholarship) on 8 April 2025, Sala 3, 10:00-10:30 (Peruvian time).

The online event is organised by the National Scholarship and Educational Loan Program - Pronabec of the Peruvian Ministry of Education

Meet University of Helsinki's representatives at the 2025 European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) in Japan. 

  • 14 June 2025, 12:00–18:00, Hosei University, Tokyo. 
  • 15 June 2025, 12:00–18:00, Kansai University, Osaka.

You might also meet our students or alumni at the different events, but the quickest and easiest way to learn about student life in Helsinki is by using our student chat. 

Please note that our students cannot answer questions about admissions, scholarships or doctoral supervisors. For those topics, you can reach out to our admissions advisors directly.

Webinar for Master's applicants

In our yearly webinar, Master's applicants can learn more about the application process and get an insight into student life at the University of Helsinki. 

The next webinar will take place in December 2025. Exact dates will be announced in September.

In the meantime, you can watch the recording of our previous webinar from 3 December 2024, which was aimed at applicants for the autumn 2025 intake. While some details might change, it still provides a general idea of what to expect. Updated information for the next application round will be available in autumn 2025.

Webinars for new international students

New international students are invited to join a series of webinars designed to support a smooth start to their studies. These sessions are exclusively for those admitted to our bachelor's or master's programmes. Personal invitations are sent out individually.

The welcome webinar for new international degree students starting their studies at the University of Helsinki in autumn 2025 takes place on 8 May 2025. 

During the session, our new students will: 

  • receive practical information about the first steps to take as a new student.
  • get tips on how to prepare for studying and living in Finland.
  • hear from our students about their journey to Finland and student life in Helsinki.

An email invitation will be sent to all admitted international students before the webinar.  

The webinar is organised by the Admission Services of the University of Helsinki.

This webinar takes place on 15 May and aims to help new international students plan and ensure that they have sufficient funds for the entire duration of their studies in Finland. Check also our website for information about the cost of living and financial matters.

During the session, our new students will:

  • receive information on what to consider when planning your finances
  • hear from UH Master’s students how they finance their studies and how they have created networks
  • get tips on how to find (part-time) work
  • be able to ask questions from our staff and students

The webinar is organised by the Student Advice of the University of Helsinki.

This webinar on 22 May aims to help incoming international degree students get familiar with Finnish student life and student activities. 

The webinar is organised by the Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY). All students completing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at the University of Helsinki are members of HYY. In total, this adds up to 27,000 members, all students. In exchange for an annual membership fee, HYY provides numerous services and benefits.

The webinar will cover the following topics:

  • What is the Student Union?
  • Students in the University community
  • Student culture in Finland
  • Student organisations in Helsinki
  • How to get involved

The pre-arrival webinar for incoming international degree students starting their studies in the autumn of 2025.takes place in August (date to be confirmed).

During the session, our new students will:

  • learn about what happens during the orientation week and at the Check-In Event
  • find out about administrative matters you must take care of after arriving in Finland, including getting the HSL travel card for public transport
  • hear from our students about their experiences of settling in and studying in Finland
  • be able to ask questions from our staff members and student representative
  • and much more!
