Catherine E. de Vries on varadekaani ja valtiotieteiden professori School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs (SPEGA) -yksikössä IE-yliopistossa Madridissa. Hän on aiemmin työskennellyt professorina Bocconin yliopistossa, Oxfordin yliopistossa ja Amsterdamin VU-yliopistossa sekä vierailevana tutkijana UCLA:ssa.
De Vries on yksi johtavista eurooppalaisen politiikan tutkijoista ja äänistä. Hän on julkaissut merkittäviä ja laajasti luettuja teoksia demokraattisen politiikan ja poliittisen talouden kompleksisuudesta - keskittyen muun muassa populismiin, julkisten palvelujen järjestämiseen, poliittiseen korruptioon ja muuttoliikeeseen. Hänen keynote-luentonsa perustuu hänen tulevaan Oxford University Pressin julkaisemaan monografiaansa, joka käsittelee Euroopan integraation haasteita ja tulevaisuutta.
