Y Science Food Systems Pitching Competition 2025

Viikki Food Design Factory organizes together with FAO's Office of Innovations the Food Systems Pitching competition at Y Science, a signature side event of Slush on November 19, 2025 at Messukeskus, Helsinki.

Y Science is an event that brings together the curious scientific community and the business world to inspire concrete actions, innovation and contributions to society in the field of life sciences.

It includes three pitching competitions: Health & Pharma, Food Systems and Nature & Forestry as well as a showcase of Business to Research projects and spin-offs from the University of Helsinki.

The four finalists for this year's Food Systems pitching competition were selected from the  semifinalists at a pitching competition in FAO's Science and Innovation Forum in Rome on October 16.

The finalists are:

  • Pedro Viera, (Bolivia)
  • Anita Licata, (Italy)
  • Giovanni Dal Mas, (Spain)
  • Lorena Vargas Arias, La Indiana / Agroboral (Colombia)

Each company is developing data-driven solutions that create real value for farmers.

Attendance is free of charge (no Slush pass needed) but registration is required.
