Viikki Living Lab brings together the University of Helsinki’s research and teaching, the residents of Viikki, and those visiting Viikki for studies or work, as well as businesses in various fields. Viikki Living Lab provides a platform for co-development and testing of sustainable innovations, such as new products and services for food system and wood and forest related businesses.
Viikki Food Design Factory leads the development of Viikki Living Lab in close cooperation with Viikki Wood & Forest Innohub. The work has begun with charting key stakeholders in the pilot environment, co-developing its concept and operating methods, and piloting various experiments.

The Viikki Living Lab pilot environment provides residents and actors in the Viikki region with the opportunity to participate, for example, in the sensory testing of new food products or pilots in local food production and sales. The living lab environment enables various projects from local urban farming to increasing wellbeing through use of natural materials.
