- On weekdays, the emergency service hours begin at 16.15 and continue until 8.00 the following morning.
- On the weekend, the emergency service hours begin on Friday at 16.15 and continue until Monday morning.
- After the consulting hours in the morning (9.00), clients’ phone calls are directed to the emergency service number.
The emergency service is intended for animals which have an acute illness, are in need of urgent treatment and primarily come from the hospital’s emergency service area.
The Production Animal Hospital is responsible for acute cases during evenings, nights and weekends in the municipality of Mäntsälä as well as Orimattila, Myrskylä, Artjärvi and Pukkila in the Joint Authority for Päijät-Häme Social and Health Care.
In the Joint Authority for Päijät-Häme Social and Health Care, a separate emergency service for small animals is provided in Lahti on Fridays 16.00–20.00 and on Saturdays and Sundays 8.00–20.00. Phone 0600 392 121
Rates for calls to the emergency service:
- 8.00–22.00 €1.53 per minute + standard call rate
- 22.00–8.00 €3.56 per minute + standard call rate
When working, the veterinarian cannot always answer calls immediately, in which case the calls will go to voicemail. The voicemail has a message from the veterinarian with instructions for callers. It is important that you leave your name and phone number if you need urgent veterinary assistance.
During emergency service, patients are treated in order of priority, and appointments cannot be made, for example, for small animal patients. Visits to production animal farms during emergency service are subject to higher fees.
The outpatient department treats most cases of acute illness. During emergency service, the outpatient department charges higher outpatient and treatment fees.
In the Helsinki region, emergency services are provided by the University’s Small Animal Hospital and Equine Hospital.
