The fourth Nordic Challenges Conference explores how the Nordic model adapts to and changes in the context of multiple global challenges, such as aging populations, migration, populism and the platform economy. The conference will take place online on 5-6 November 2021.

The Fourth Nordic Challenges Conference: Reconsidering the Nordic Models in an age of polarization

Boston University (online), 5–6 November, 2021

The conference will be held November 5th-6th, 2021 via Zoom/Qiqo chat. Concurrent sessions explore the themes of Nordic democracy and welfare, Nordic and small states' responses to "grand challenges", the new geopolitics of Nordic identity, circulation and contestation, and Nordic neoliberalism. The conference will include two special plenary panels: Reconsidering the Nordic Model (with Torben Iversen, Chris Howell, Cathie Jo Martin) and The Nordic model in a Global Context (Herman Mark Schwartz, Jette Steen Knudsen, John Campbell, Haldor Byrkjeflot).
