Immune - endothelial interfaces

Our immune system safeguards us from infections and diseases, and advances in immunotherapies have resulted in breakthroughs in cancer treatment. However, when immune responses become unbalanced, they can lead to chronic inflammation or autoimmune diseases. While systemic immune regulation has been thoroughly studied, we now understand that essential control also happens locally at the inflammation site – yet how these responses are regulated remains unclear. IMMENs focuses on understanding how endothelial cells lining lymphatic vessels communicate with immune cells to regulate immune responses in both healthy and diseased states, and on developing new methods and tools to study these interactions.
