Camp schools

Kilpisjärvi Biological Station offers an excellent setting for organising camp schools in the unique fell landscape of the Käsivarsi Wilderness Area. The station's specialists will help plan the programme, and the campers will get the chance to explore research conducted at the station, for example, by visiting the eddy covariance tower, which measures greenhouse gas emissions.

Depending on the season, our offerings include snow and frost measurements, water and fish sample analysis, as well as activities related to fell flora. During the camp school, pupils can also explore local history and Indigenous perspectives. The , which can be hiked with the help of a mobile app, incorporate science education into fell hikes.

Accommodation and dining facilities, hiking equipment for loan and bookable saunas ensure a memorable visit. The Kilpisjärvi area also offers excellent opportunities for outdoor recreation, including cycling, snowshoeing and skiing, as well as excursions in the surrounding areas and the Saana landscape. Kilpisjärvi Biological Station is the perfect destination, bringing together learning, the enjoyment of nature and unforgettable experiences.
