This page lists businesses selling doctoral hats and swords. The doctoral hat should be ordered as early as possible, since, depending on demand, the delivery times can vary from one to six months. With several conferment ceremonies to be held in the spring, the hat makers can become inundated with orders.

Graduands cannot take part in the conferment ceremony without a doctoral hat and sword.
You can wear a borrowed doctoral hat at the conferment ceremony, as long as it is the right type (black with the Faculty’s serpent symbol) and fits you properly (not too big or too small). The University has a limited number of doctoral swords, which it lends to participants in conferment ceremonies who have no sword of their own.
Usually the doctoral sword is engraved with the doctor's name and the date of the conferment ceremony which in this case is 19 May 2023.
The price of doctoral hats is €560, including measuring, a decorative lyre and a storage box.

The price of doctoral hats is €745, including a factory-made box. In connection with hat orders, the price of a hand-made box is €85. Head measurements at the E.R. Wahlman store on Sofiankatu in Helsinki, Tue–Fri from 10.00 to 17.00 and Sat from 10.00 to 14.00
