shRNA Collection

GBU provides clones from the TRC1 shRNA library for gene knockdown research purposes. These clones are available to research groups within the Biocenter Finland network.
TRC1 shRNA Collection

Our Mission TRC1 shRNA library (Sigma-Aldrich) collection contains 81,534 human shRNAs and 77,994 mouse shRNAs. Most genes are covered by approximately five different shRNA constructs. All constructs are cloned in pLKO.1 lentiviral vector with puromycin selection.

The and sequence are available at the manufacturer´s website.

Detailed information regarding the shRNA sequences and their validation status can be obtained by searching for each specific gene on the manufacturer's

If our library does not include your gene of interest or if you wish to clone the shRNA into the inducible Tet-pLKO-puro vector, we offer custom cloning services. Please refer to the section for further details.

Ordering, Delivery, and Prices

Please fill in the order form and send it to .

Please indicate in the form if you would like to submit the DNA directly to the for virus production. We will provide BVC with enough DNA for the desired product. Please contact for more information and orders.

Available delivery formats:

  • Plates
  • DNA mini/midipreps
  • Glycerol stocks

Delivery options:

  • Local pickup at Biocenter 1, Viikki
  • Internal mail (University of Helsinki)
  • External mail for DNA
  • UPS shipment on dry ice for glycerol stocks (shipping fees added to invoice)

Typical delivery time: within one week.

If your constructs are intended for viral delivery, we can forward them directly to HelVi‑BVC for virus production.

Clone Verification

Although the libraries are vendor‑verified, occasional errors may occur.
We strongly recommend sequencing all clones.

You will receive an info sheet with your delivery that lists the recommended Sanger sequencing primer for shRNA clones.

We also offer verification as a service, which can include:

  • Restriction analysis
  • Sanger sequencing
  • Whole‑plasmid sequencing

For sequencing, alignment of your construct sequence to the original library reference includes the service, as well as a full sequencing report.

Faulty clones will not be charged.
