Evolutionary sequence analysis

Ari Löytynoja research group

We work on methods development and their application in evolutionary sequence analysis. Our current research topics include population genetics, analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, and development of sequence alignment and visualization tools for evolutionary and comparative studies.

Our main research directions are:

  • Methods for sequence alignment and comparative sequence analysis
  • Role of template switch mutations in gene and genome evolution
  • Population genetics of small, isolated populations.
