Rethinking production and consumption

Here you can learn more about the research theme Rethinking production and consumption.

Green growth, technological innovations, and sustainable consumption are not sufficient for the required systemic transformation. Transformative alternatives, such as degrowth are needed.

HELSUS studies and supports social movements, and co-creates sustainable designs, grassroots innovations, and the structural changes in sociocultural, economic and political systems affecting them. Our approaches include a wide range of inter- and transdisciplinary methods drawing on, for example, futures thinking and circular and sustainable use of natural resources. Our research fosters university engagement in anticipating and realising possibilities within planetary boundaries.
