The HELSUS community has co-created five new research themes aligned with its vision of being a globally leading inter- and trans-disciplinary sustainability science and teaching network committed to strong sustainability.
Strong sustainability refers to the idea that nature is the foundation that supports human wellbeing and prosperity. Economy and society needs to operate within the constraints of the environment.
Research at HELSUS approaches Strong Sustainability through the five research themes:

· Unpacking Inequalities to Enable Just, Democratic and Resilient Transitions
· Shifting Paradigms, Methods and Practices of Sustainability Science
· Rethinking Production and Consumption, and
