Human activity is transforming the Earth at an accelerated rate resulting in rapid biodiversity loss and climate change. These changes have major negative impacts on planetary health, more-than-human wellbeing, and the functioning of societies. HELSUS draws on systemic approaches to research the global, regional and local patterns and processes affecting climate change, ecosystems and wellbeing, and creates context-specific solutions to inform sustainability transformations.
Our groundbreaking work provides synthesis and knowledge integration of University of Helsinki's expertise on the governance and management of natural resources, climate feedback, and adaptation/mitigation, ecosystem services and restoration, and biodiversity safeguarding.
