Nordic Conference on Religious Education

Welcome to the 18th NCRE Conference!

Exploring existential questions, superdiversity, and resilience in education.

Welcome to the 18th Nordic Conference on Religious Education (NCRE), which will take place in Helsinki from 8–11 June 2026. Hosted at the University of Helsinki, the conference brings together researchers, educators, and students from across the Nordic region and beyond to share insights, exchange ideas, and reflect on the future of Religious Education. Key themes this year include existential questions in education, superdiversity and worldviews, and resilience in a turbulent world. Alongside these, the conference will foster collaboration and exchange across the Religious Education community.

The conference's keynote speakers are Professor Linda Woodhead (King's College London, UK), Professor David Thurfjell (Södertörn University, Sweden), and Docent Saila Poulter (University of Helsinki).
