Paper and poster sessions

Paper sessions

Please arrive to your session in advance, to make sure your presentation is ready to present.

Paper sessions are 1,5h and generally have four papers per session. This means that each presenter has 20 minutes, 15 minutes to present and 5 minutes for questions. Some thematic streams may have different time allocation. The presenters in these sessions are contacted by the thematic stream coordinators.

Please use PowerPoint’s feature auto-captioning for your presentation.

The last person in the session is usually the chair, unless stated otherwise in the programme.

Two weeks before the conference you’ll find a form here where to submit your presentation.
Two weeks before the conference the presentations are uploaded onto a folder that will be found here. The presentations are uploaded regularly as they arrive.

Please bring your own poster or plan so that you can pick up your poster in one of Helsinki’s local print shops. NNDR organizing committee cannot print the posters.

The poster display is A0 size. Vertical side is longer, and the horizontal side is shorter, which means that the display is “portrait” rather than “landscape”.

Poster session is on Thursday at 15:30-16:30 the posters can be brought in the Pohjoinen lämpiö already on Wednesday evening, or before the start of the session. You can leave your poster in the session room.

Conference venue

The conference will be held at the University of Helsinki City Centre Campus: Main building (Fabianinkatu 33) and Porthania  (Yliopistonkatu 3). There is about 180 meters between the two buildings. Most of the programme is in Main building.

Main building is built in 1832, which is why we are trying to make it as accessible as possible. Please contact nndr2025@helsinki.fi if you require individual accommodations.
Please refer to the Main building accessibility map, information of the conference rooms and Service map when planning most suitable accessible routes.

Porthania PI platform lift is 98cm x 80cm (picture on the accessibility map). When the wheelchair wheels fit inside the lift, the lift can be used. PI also has a platfrom from side that does not have a lift. This platform can be used for wheelchairs too.

Keynotes are streamed to Urbarium and PIII (Porthania) and Studium 1 (main building). The floor is flat and there is a ramp to Urbarium. PIII is partially accessible, only the back row in the auditorium is accessible with a wheelchair.

We have reserved rooms in the Main building.
U2071 has beanbags, yogamats, plush mats, plush toys, headphones and light cubes. This room is more a sensory space than only a quiet room.
U4070 is a quiet space and U4071 can be used to emotional regulation when needed.

We ask the lifts to be left for the guests, who need them for accessibility.
We have volunteers helping participants find the conference locations and guiding participants to the accessible routes.

Interpretation and presentation auto-captioning

  • Key note speeches are interpreted in international sign and have text interpretation in English.
  • All presenters are asked to use PowerPoint auto-captioning used in the rooms reserved for paper presentations.
  • Paper session rooms have computers that allow auto-captioning on PowerPoint.

All the session rooms have either presenter microphones or an inbuilt ceiling microphone that can be connected to a hearing aid or CI.

In Porthania the satellite room Urbarium is also allergy free.

We also hope that no strong scents are worn during the conference days.

Accessible toilets
There are accessible toilets in the main building and Porthania. The old side of the main building (Unioninkatu side, with the U-rooms) has one accessible toilet. Please use the lift to reach the toilet in the first floor on this side. This toilet also has a patient lift.
