Abstract submission

NNDR2025 is inviting researches, policy makers, activists and practitioners to contribute to the conference in paper sessions and symposia. Contributions are expected to have a common ground within the multidisciplinary field of disability studies and to stimulate conversations between participants by drawing on empirical, theoretical and policy and practice-oriented approaches.

Abstract submissions are accepted only electronically by using the online submission system.
Abstract submission form opens on 15th August 2024, and closes on 15th October 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted. We are not extending the submission deadline.

Abstract submission is now closed.

Accepted contributions will be presented either as paper or poster presentations, according to the final decision by the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee has all rights to accept or reject the abstracts. The acceptance letters will be sent by 16th December 2024 (subject to changes).

All accepted abstracts will be published at the conference, subject to the author registering as a paid delegate. The accepted abstracts will be published as typed by the author, including any errors in grammar, spelling or scientific facts.

Instructions for Abstract Submission

Title
The title should be typed in using small letters, title starting with a capital letter, and should not exceed 15 words. Do NOT type the full title in capital letters.
Title should be specific, descriptive, and avoid using abbreviations unless they are widely known. It should clearly indicate the main topic and, if possible, the results or unique aspect of the study.

Authors and Affiliations
Please fill in the author details as requested on the form. Kindly mark only one author as the presenter.
The first author’s name should be the name of the presenter.

Body of the abstract
The abstract is up to 300 words. The 300-word limit does not include the title or author details of the abstract; the limit is for the actual text of the abstract.
The abstract must be structured in the following four specified subtitles: Background aims, Methods, Results and Conclusions. No tables or graphs can be inserted.

Paper presentation: An in-person presentation belonging in a thematic stream or an open theme. The streams aim to gather together scholars working on shared themes. As disability research is vast, topics outside the suggested thematic streams are welcome for submission to an open theme. In the abstract submission system, you can thus choose to submit your abstract to one of the thematic streams or in open theme. The streams are listed on our website, here.

Symposia: Symposium organiser submits an abstract for the whole symposium choosing “Symposium theme”. Symposium contributors are listed as co-presenters. Each symposium contributor submits their own paper separately, choosing “Symposium paper”. Contributors need to state the symposium that the paper is part of.  Symposium length (1,5h-3) depends on the number of contributor papers in the symposium. The structure of the symposium can be discussed with the conference organisers.

Poster presentation: A poster displayed in the conference venue and showcased at the poster reception when presenters are available to answer questions and discuss their presentation.
