Aleksanteri Institute Visiting Fellows Programme
The Aleksanteri Institute Visiting Fellows Programme provides an opportunity for highly qualified scholars in Russian, Eastern European and Eurasian studies to visit the Aleksanteri Institute and the University of Helsinki for a period of two months.

During the fellowship, Aleksanteri Visiting Fellows work on their research projects and benefit from interaction with scholars at the Aleksanteri Institute and elsewhere in Finland. Each Visiting Fellow has two academic hosts who are working on a related theme and who help them to settle in and establish contacts with the research community in Finland. Visits are supported with a monthly grant.

Starting from the academic year 2008–2009, the Visiting Fellows Programme has hosted over 160 Visiting Fellows working on various fields and themes within the social sciences and humanities, and representing 29 countries from Europe through North America to China. The call for proposals for the academic year 2023-2024 was open until 12 February 2023. We were delighted to receive once again so many excellent applications from outstanding scholars (155 proposals altogether) and are excited to work with the 12 new Aleksanteri Visiting Fellows who will come to Helsinki from August 2023 onward.
