The Aleksanteri Institute organises study programmes, special courses and training on different levels from undergraduate to PhD. Our teaching is closely linked to the on-going research at the Institute and its network, and we are constantly developing new methods and practices to provide students with the best learning experience.

We understand the demand for diverse expertise both in the academia and the society at large, and aim to provide a variety of possibilities to get to know Russia and Eastern Europe, deepen the understanding of the area and specialise in its specific questions.

Beginning in 2018, we offer a multidisciplinary Master’s programme in Russian Studies aimed especially at international students. Our other undergraduate and MA level programmes Expertise in Russian and Eastern European Studies (ExpREES), East Central Europe, Balkan and Baltics studies (ECEBB) and Ukrainian Studies are available for all students of our 12 Finnish network universities. Teaching language varies from course to course but English predominates.

Several options are open for PhD students, and activities are invariably organised in English. See Finnish – Russian Network for Russian and Eurasian Studies in Social Science and Humanities (FRRESH) and Young Russian Scholars Helsinki Fellowship Program (YRUSH).
