Guide for accepted and rejected applicants

If you applied to Bachelor's Programme in Science at the University of Helsinki that starts in the autumn of 2024, the information on this page applies to you.
When the results are published
  • If you applied in the admission group 1 (application period 1 December 2023 – 3 January 2024):  When the admission results are published, you are informed of your personal admission results by e-mail no later than 15 April 2024. You can also find this information in the My Studyinfo service.
  • If you applied in the admission group 2 (application period 13 – 27 March 2024):  When the admission results are published, you are informed of your personal admission results by e-mail no later than 4 July 2024. You can also find this information in the My Studyinfo service.

 

Please note that the University of Helsinki does not publish the names of the admitted students.

 

Accepted applicants

User account and instructions for new students

Your information will be saved to the University’s student register in two weeks’ time when you have:

  • accepted the offer of admission and
  • registered as an attending or non-attending student.

You can activate you user account, apply for a student card and sign up for courses only after your information has been saved to the student register.

Health care fee for students in higher education

If you register as an attending student for the whole academic year or for one semester, you have to pay the health care fee for students in higher education to Kela (the Social Insurance Institution of Finland). Residence permit

You must apply for a residence permit to study in Finland, unless you are a citizen of the EU, the Nordic countries, Liechtenstein or Switzerland. Please start applying for your residence permit as soon as possible before the peak time in July-August, as it may take long time to process.  Please note that you must apply for a residence permit for study.
