Dr. Lucy Jones

Dr. Lucy Jones is an Associate Professor in Sociolinguistics and the Director of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Nottingham. In her ethnographic research, she utilizes critical discourse analysis, sociocultural linguistics, as well as feminist and queer theoretical approaches to studying identity construction and the relationship between language, gender and sexuality. In particular, she has explored these topics among LGBTQ+ people, for example examining norms and ideologies related to gender and sexuality, and the construction of agency in trans youth discourse.

Dr. Frazer Heritage

Dr. Frazer Heritage is a corpus linguist and a Lecturer in Linguistics at the Manchester Metropolitan University. In his research, he makes use of corpus-assisted critical discourse analysis, exploring representations of gender and sexuality in various forms of digital media. In his PhD dissertation, he examined linguistic representations of gender and gendered language use in the video game series The Witcher. While he continues exploring how corpus approaches can be utilized in video game research, he has also delved into investigating ideologies about gender and sexuality in an incel online community.
