She defended her PhD thesis on the sociolinguistic variation and change in an 18th-century English correspondence network in 2009. Her research interests include the language and identity of the individual, the Bluestocking circle, sociolinguistics of spelling variation, and historical L2 English. She has edited manuscript letters and worked on editing practices and sociolinguistic metadata for historical corpus linguistic research.

I am a member in the Academy of Finland projects Dynamics of Change in Language Practices and Social Meaning 1700-1900 (DYLAPS), led by Professor Minna Palander-Collin, and Interfacing structured and unstructured data in sociolinguistic research on language change (STRATAS), funded by the Academy of Finland DIGIHUM programme and led by Professor Terttu Nevalainen. I have collaborated with Minna Palander-Collin and Minna Nevala in the project Language and Identity: Variation and Change in Patterns of Interaction in the History of English (the University of Helsinki, 2009-2011).
