Global Change and Conservation

Principal investigator: Mar Cabeza

Global Change and Conservation (GCC) is an interdisciplinary research group that promotes academic research and postgraduate education in conservation science.

We undertake advanced research in five specific lines of conservation science, covering both ecological and social aspects. Our principal aim is to investigate conservation successes and failures, and apply lessons learned to develop effective conservation strategies at multiple scales.

While applied conservation is our final aim, the group works also on methodological developments, such as projecting impacts of climate change on biodiversity or assessing protected area effectiveness. Our research philosophy is rotted on interdisciplinarity and focused on providing policy-relevant science of high societal impact.
