Workshop on corpus-based and computational approaches to language variation

The workshop will be held at the University of Helsinki on April 27-28, with an option for remote participation.

The event is supported by the CoCoLaC research community and by the Academy of Finland through the CorCoDial (Corpus-based computational dialectology) project.

We will have several invited speakers (Adrien Barbaresi, Karlien Franco, Nikola Ljubešić, Barbara Plank, Tanja Samardžić), but we also welcome contributions from the community on variation in spoken or written language, in particular but not limited to social media. We especially encourage early-stage researchers to participate.

More information about the workshop is available here:

Participation is free of charge but registration is compulsory. Registration is open until March 20 for participants offering to give a talk. For participants attending without giving a talk, registration is encouraged until 20 March to facilitate the organization of the event, but will remain open after this date. Please register here:

Anyone interested is welcome!

For the organizing committee,
