Salaried positions and other funding opportunities

The call for doctoral candidate positions with university funding will open on this page.

Other ways of funding a PhD project is a salary paid by the supervisor or a personal grant from a private foundation applied by the doctoral candidate him/herself. Doctoral candidates may also fund their studies themselves or pursue their degree in tandem with work.

Programme-specific criteria and other specifications to the common call

Eli­gib­il­ity

You can apply for the position if you have not yet graduated. In this case, a relevant academic degree (MSc or equivalent) in a field suitable for thesis project should be completed and obtained before the starting date, but no later than 14.2.2019

Please notice that the electronic application form asks you to download a copy of the degree diploma (MSc, MD or equivalent). In you do not yet have obtained the degree diploma, you can download an empty pdf-page.

Recommondation letter

The recommendation letter must be submitted by the supervisor using an electronic e-form . Deadline for the recommendation letters is October 4th, 2018 16.00 EET (GMT+3). Note!! The applicant is responsible for informing the supervisor about the submission of the recommendation letter by the deadline

Lan­guage of the ap­plic­a­tion

Prefarably, please use the English application form. However, if you choose to complete the application form in Finnish or Swedish, please note that the research plan must be written in English

Eval­u­ation pro­cess

The applicants are evaluated based on their written applications by the CHEMS board and external evaluator. Top selected candidates may be also  interviewed

CHEMS-spe­cific eval­u­ation cri­teria

The following criteria will be used when evaluating the applications:

  • quality of the research plan
  • the applicant’s performance in previous studies
  • previous research or progress in doctoral studies if already started
  • a possible interview /external evaluation
  • recommendations by the supervisor(s), and other merits (if such exist)

Travel grants are intended to support doctoral students’ foreign and domestic travel for academic purposes (doctoral courses, learning in other research groups or participating in scientific conferences, seminars or workshops).  All doctoral students belonging to a doctoral programme at the DONASCI doctoral school may apply for travel grants.
