In March, we made significant progress in various project activities. The procurement process for the GC-MS at UniLúrio has advanced, alongside laboratory preparations at both UniLúrio and UoN. Preparations have also begun for lab technologists to visit to the University of Helsinki for learning to use and validate the GC-MS machine in June this year. The literature review on mycotoxins, pesticide residues, and data integration into DASAT2 web application is ongoing. We also continue to review the food composition database and develop the DASAT2 user interface and developing potential learning materials for the DigiCampus online learning platform.
We are also pleased to welcome Neha Imran and Jasmine Irakoze, master’s students in Human Nutrition and Food-Related Behavior, as project interns working at the University of Helsinki. Neha will support FoodLeader project communication, conduct a literature review on school feeding programs, and assist with various project tasks. Jasmine will focus on compiling a joint food composition database for Kenya and Mozambique, as well as recipe and nutrient calculations as part of the DASAT development.
Additionally, FoodLeader connected with the World Vision Kenya and discussed different collaboration opportunities in March. We are excited for the upcoming collaboration with the World Vision Kenya.
