On the guided tours you can access the physical memory of where the University and its students have been present and where they still can be seen in the city of Helsinki.
The Conferment on the map! Academic processions in the heart of Helsinki

During some springs you can suddenly meet a strange tradition in the streets of the city center. Do you know who the wreathed persons in white dresses, hats and black ties are? Join the investigation of the University of Helsinki conferment tradition – how can it be seen in the urban life?

  • A guided tour for the public is organised in English on Monday the 31.5.2023 at 18.00.
  • Start: From the University main entrance by the Senat Square, Unioninkatu 32. 
  • Your guide will be Ph.D Eva Ahl-Waris. (eva.ahlwaris@gmail.com).
  • The tours are free – registration is required to the abovementioned e-mail. The tour lasts about 1 hour.  

In Finnish, the tours are at 17 o’clock on 15.5, 17.5 and 24.5. Extra tour in Finnish will be on 7th June at 4 pm.

In Swedish the tours are undertaken 16.5, 24.5 and 31.5. Extra tour in Swedish will be on 7th June at 5 pm.
