Conferment Office

The Conferment Office is open in the spring:

Mon 17—19 (Open on Thursday 24 April 17—19 instead of the public holiday on 21st of April)

Wed 10—13.

It is located in Porthania’s (Yliopistonkatu 3) second floor, room P221, opposite the teachers’ cafeteria. You can reach the office by email, fil-promootio@helsinki.fi.

Conferment Committee

The Conferment is organised by a committee of volunteers made up of graduating master’s and doctoral students, led by the gratisti. There are multiple smaller working groups in the committee focusing on different sub-events and themes.

Conferrer: Ulla-Maija Forsberg

Ulla-Maija Forsberg is the professor of Finno-Ugrian linguistics in the Faculty of Arts since 1998. During 2007–2009 she was the dean of the same faculty and 2010–2013 the first vice-rector of the University of Helsinki. Forsberg was Doctor Ultima in the conferment ceremony of the Faculty of Philosophy in 1990 and Master of Ceremonies in the conferment ceremony in 2003. Her main research interests are etymology of Finnish and other  Finno-Ugrian languages and the structure and history of Hungarian and the Ob-Ugric languages Khanty and Mansi.

Master of Ceremonies: Leena Peltonen

Leena Peltonen is Professor in Pharmaceutical Technology at the Faculty of Pharmacy. She has educational background both in physical chemistry and in pharmacy. She received the doctoral degree in 2001, and the title of docent in 2004 from the area of pharmaceutical technology in the University of Helsinki. After her dissertation she initialized the nanotechnological research group. Her main research areas are drug nanoparticles, solubility enhancing technologies, physicochemical analysis, dissolution and permeation studies, solubility testing and physical pharmacy.

Head Marshall: Olli-Pekka Malinen

Olli-Pekka Malinen is a University Lecturer and the Director of master’s degree programme at the Faculty of Educational Sciences. Malinen obtained a PhD Degree in 2013 at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Eastern Finland, and during his career, he has worked as a researcher, teacher educator, international education expert, schoolteacher, and a vice director of a multidisciplinary research institute. In his research, Malinen has focused on teacher perceptions concerning inclusive education, and is interested in evidence-based pedagogical practices for implementing inclusive education in regular schools. Having He is also involved in international research and education collaboration, particularly in the East- and South-East Asia.
