COVERE² Approach will be presented in the Environment and Sustainability category by Marie-Lou Manca (ELEKS)
This presentation will delve into the objective and innovative methods that COVERE² employs to simplify reporting and enhance sustainability within the dairy sector. The focus will be on COVERE² the solution, composed of a combination of consultancy services and digital tools, which covers the entire process from assessments, data identification, collection, verification, to reports creation until the design of emissions reduction scenarios.
Mitigation methods on a dairy farm will be presented by Marja Roitto and Yajie Gao (University of Helsinki)
Here were review potential mitigation methods for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions at the farm level. Many approaches to lowering GHG emissions have previously been studied at the Viikki dairy research farm at the University of Helsinki. These include novel feeds or feed additives that can reduce methane emissions from enteric fermentation. Sustainable soil management and increasing soil carbon stock are among the important mitigation methods. In addition, previous studies have covered, for example, the role of dung beetles in reducing GHG emissions and the effects of antibiotics on GHG emissions from livestock. The results are evaluated in terms of life cycle assessment.
