University of Helsinki will be part of the Finland’s Pavilion at COP30

The United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30, will take place this year in Belém, Brazil, in November. The University of Helsinki will participate as part of Finland’s pavilion.

The pavilion will showcase how Finnish institutions and companies are driving solutions through innovation, digitalisation, and low-carbon industrial transformation. Together with Aalto University, the University of Helsinki will bring together a multidisciplinary delegation of professors whose expertise spans energy transition, sustainable digitalisation, climate justice and inclusion, land use, nature-based solutions, and circular systems.

The collaboration between University of Helsinki and Aalto University highlights the key role of science-based knowledge in global climate discussions and both universities’ commitment to advancing climate action. The collaboration was made possible by Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation. 

 Experts from the

brings together leading companies and institutions such as Nokia, Outokumpu, Sitra, Stora Enso, the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), and the cities of Helsinki and Tampere. Their collaboration reflects Finland’s strategy of combining cross-sectoral innovation and science-based solutions in the global green transition. 

In addition to participating in the Finland Pavilion, the University of Helsinki continues its participation in the UN Climate Conference as an observer organisation.
