University of Helsinki admits 1,246 students to the international master’s programmes

1,246 students have been admitted to the international master’s programmes for studies starting in autumn 2021. A record number of 7401 applications were received this year.

1,246 students have been admitted to the international master’s programmes beginning in autumn 2021. In the application round that ended 15 January 2021 the University of Helsinki received 7,401 applications from 150 different countries to the 35 International Master’s Programmes on offer, marking a 58% increase from last cycle.  

Students from both Finland and other countries pursue studies in the international programmes. Of those admitted to the programmes beginning in autumn 2021, 64% are from other countries than Finland and 49% are from non-EU or non-EEA states. Alongside Finland, the highest number of admitted students came from China, USA and Bangladesh.  

The most popular programmes this year were the Master's Programme in Data Science and the Master's Programme in Environmental Change and Global Sustainability 

Admitted students have until 16 July 2021 to accept the University’s offer of admission. 

The University of Helsinki is following the Finnish government’s and the Public Health Authority’s recommendations and policies for preventing the spread of the coronavirus. The University is planning for a hybrid model of instruction for autumn 2021, a model that combines both remote and safe contact teaching.
