The Board of the University of Helsinki has 13 members, of whom seven represent the University community, while the remaining six are selected from outside the University community. The Board members representing the University community include representatives of professors, other teaching and research staff, other staff and students.
In the 20-22 November 2017 elections, University staff chose the members representing the University community for the Board of the University of Helsinki for the four-year term 1 January 2018 – 31 December 2021. The Student Union of the University of Helsinki (HYY) elected the student representatives for the Board for two-year period 1 January 2018 – 31 December 2019.
The University Collegium selected the Board members from outside the University community in spring 2017. The members are Tarja Halonen, Ilona Herlin, Tommi Laitio, Jussi Pajunen, Ilona Riipinen and Teija Tiilikainen.
