This is the University of Helsinki's best ranking in the 13-year history of the Shanghai ranking. According to this listing, the University of Helsinki is better than 99.6% of the 17,000 universities in the world.
“We want to maintain our position among the top universities of the world and to improve it further, but our efforts would be a great deal easier if the Government of Finland hadn't targeted the University of Helsinki specifically with major budget cuts,” says Markus Laitinen, Head of International Affairs.
American universities dominate
