Niklas Bruun appointed chair of the Board of the University of Helsinki for the term 2022–2025

In its first meeting, held on 9 December, the new Board of the University of Helsinki elected Niklas Bruun, LLD, as its chair. Ilona Herlin, PhD, was elected as the deputy chair. The term of the Board is four years, from 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2025.

Niklas Bruun is professor emeritus of commercial law at the Hanken School of Economics. Among other positions, he has served as the Swedish-language professor of private law at the University of Helsinki and the chair of the National Non-Discrimination and Equality Tribunal of Finland.

Ilona Herlin is one of the owners of Cargotec and a docent at the University of Helsinki. She completed her doctoral degree at the University of Helsinki in 1998. Herlin also served on the Board of the University of Helsinki for the term 2018–2021.

The Board of the University of Helsinki consists of 12 members, of whom seven represent the University community and five are appointed from outside the community. The chair and deputy chair of the Board are selected from outside the University community.
