The University is once again participating in Helsinki Pride

During Helsinki Pride Week, the University of Helsinki will hold a discussion on the psychological safety of minorities, while Helsinki University Library will highlight LGBTQIA+ literature, and flags will be flown for equality on all campuses.

This year, the theme of the Helsinki Pride event is Encounters. The theme is also reflected in a discussion session organised by the University, in which the focus is on how to nurture a sense of solidarity and psychological safety in the gender and sexual minority community at the University of Helsinki.

The University session will be held on Thursday, 30 June at 13.00–14.30. The objective of the discussion is to present and collaboratively consider ways of creating spaces and practices, through a variety of encounters, that promote solidarity and make everyone feel safe and part of an inclusive University community. The event is open to all in Zoom via this link:

It will be available to customers throughout the year. In addition, a Pride-themed event will be held at Guidance Corner in Kaisa House on Wednesday, 29 June from 14.00 to 16.00, and flags will be flown for equality on all of the campuses as per tradition. The Pride Week culminates in a parade on 2 July, in which the University will also participate.

The event is organised collaboratively by the University’s Equality and Diversity Committee, the Student Union of the University of Helsinki and Helsinki University Library. Further information: tasa-arvovastaava@helsinki.fi
