Ukrainian Studies group

The Ukrainian Studies group gathers bi-weekly to discuss research in the field of Ukrainian Studies.

The Ukrainian Studies Group organizes bi-weekly discussion sessions on recent research related to Ukraine from various disciplines.

The group was established in autumn 2024. Its aim is to create a welcoming space for everyone regardless of prior research experience with Ukrainian studies to learn about and discuss recent scholarship. Rotating chairs select readings from different disciplines, which are then explored together in shared sessions. The project is designed to provide an accessible platform for engaging in discussions on Ukrainian studies.

The group welcomes students, alumni, and researchers to engage with the readings, share insights, and learn from one another through conversations about diverse perspectives within Ukrainian studies. There are no prerequisites for participation other than an interest in the topic. Both in-person and online participation are available.

As part of the Ukrainian Studies Research Community’s activities, the group also offers researchers a space to invite comments and discussion on their ongoing work, and provides junior scholars with opportunities to explore research topics related to Ukraine. We also want to foster interest in Ukraine-related topics among students and alumni, who can connect Ukrainian studies with their previous expertise and focuses.

In spring 2026, the group meets every other Monday at 15:30. If you would like to join the discussions or learn more about the activities, please contact the organiser, visiting PhD researcher Amelie Tolvin.
