Research

The core theme of the research community is "Ukrainian Agency, Voice, and Representation in Wartime".

The core theme of the research community, Ukrainian Agency, Voice, and Representation in Wartime, seeks to challenge dominant narratives which view Ukraine as a passive object within great power competition and and challenges a familiar pattern in which scholars speak for Ukraine, drawing on Russian-framed secondary accounts rather than Ukrainian perspectives.

The members of the community represent various disciplines, and the network spans several faculties. Community members develop joint research proposals and apply for funding for future projects in the field of Ukrainian Studies. To support international research cooperation, the community invites Ukrainian researchers to participate in events as speakers and for short-term research visits.

Additionally, the Ukrainian Studies Group, public seminars, and conference contributions foster discussion and raise the visibility of Ukrainian Studies research within the wider university community and the public.
