The City Centre Campus provides support services for brainstorming, social innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as suitable co-working facilities. Researchers and students interested in the topic have access to events, mentoring and networking opportunities, as well as pre-incubator and incubator programmes based on the themes and competencies of the City Centre Campus.
The pre-incubators and incubators provide support for formulating and refining ideas, establishing contacts, gaining insight into markets and customers, as well as for answering other questions that students and researchers face when embarking on entrepreneurial activities. Pre-incubators and incubators are offered on all University of Helsinki campuses.
The City Centre Campus organises two programmes supporting idea creation and entrepreneurship, linked to the campus’s research themes. Further details about each incubator can be found on their respective websites.
Särö/Fracture, a pre-incubator on the City Centre Campus, focuses on social innovation and ideas related to society, education, communities and law. The pre-incubator is designed for teams and individuals with an idea suitable for the thematic focus and ready for further refinement. During the pre-incubator, which runs from six to nine weeks, the participants work on their ideas, participate in workshops, network with others, and receive support and mentoring. The periods of application and further details can be found on the pre-incubator’s website.
Tremor, an incubator on the City Centre Campus, concentrates on social innovation and ideas related to society, education, communities and law. The incubator is intended for teams that need longer-term support and networks. The incubator lasts for six months, with the possibility of a six-month extension, and mainly consists of mentoring and workshops. During it, the participants refine their idea, aiming to establish a business or launch other activities. The periods of application and further details can be found on the incubator’s website.
Support for entrepreneurial activities and the promotion of ideas is also available in the form of a community for entrepreneurially minded people, workshops and a collaborative co-working facility, networking opportunities, sounding boards for ideas, and concrete entrepreneurship tools.
Helsinki Think Company offers a co-working space for promoting and working on various projects, a community for those interested in entrepreneurial activities, as well as support for brainstorming, business plan preparation and the different stages of entrepreneurship. The City Centre facilities are located on the second floor of Think Corner.
