Biomolecular structure and function research program

This research program focuses on modern methods for determining the three-dimensional structure and chemical mechanism of macromolecules and macromolecular complexes. Members of the research program coordinate several structural biology core facilities that house cutting edge infrastructure for cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography and NMR. The program also includes protein chemistry as means of characterizing and identifying the protein components behind these complexes, both as a research service and a core facility.
The following topics are of special interest
  • Structures of membrane proteins and protein complexes
  • Structure and function of viruses
  • Mechanisms of model enzymes and redox systems
